Dr. Caroline Dickens
Welcome! I’m Caroline, a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33758) specializing in pregnancy & postpartum mental health, with an emphasis on helping new moms navigate the anxiety that often comes with the transition to motherhood.
As a mom of 2 myself, I know firsthand that this transition can leave you feeling stuck, confused, anxious, and lost. It can feel like you’re treading water out at sea, and as your therapist, my goal is to help you feel less alone and equip you with new strategies and perspectives that can act as a lighthouse to guide you back to shore.
In my practice, I strive to build genuine, open, and trusting relationships with my clients. I work to understand each client’s unique cultural identities, values, life experiences, and ongoing stressors to help them overcome barriers and start living the life they really want, drawing on various evidence-based therapies to tailor treatment to each client’s needs and goals.
After completing my undergraduate degree at Tulane University, I received my Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium, where I trained in settings such as the Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Palo Alto VA.
I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and postdoctoral training at Pacific Anxiety Group. My graduate research with the Stanford Eating Disorder Research Program focused on helping parents transmit healthy eating behaviors to their children. I have also completed advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m passionate about reaching a wide audience of moms to help them find more peace, joy, fulfillment, and humor through the transition to motherhood. I love to work on this mission through my social media and as co-host of The Moms Are Alright podcast. I live in San Francisco with my family, where I love to explore the city and surrounding areas, try new restaurants, hike, travel, and watch cooking competition shows.
