Dr. Julia Birt
Hi there! I am Julia, a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33684) specializing in treating adults with OCD, anxiety, mood, and trauma-related disorders. I am extremely passionate about working with individuals navigating the pregnancy and postpartum period, as well as those struggling with issues related to body image. I particularly enjoy helping people work to build healthier relationship patterns, focusing on topics including effective communication, attachment style, and boundary setting.
I am a first time mom to a sweet baby boy, and while this period of my life has brought immense joy, it has also been more challenging than I ever could have imagined. As a therapist, I deeply value the opportunity to help new and expecting moms navigate this complicated transitional stage with compassion and first-hand understanding.
In the therapy room I am warm and collaborative, and I take an active and structured approach to treatment. I work closely with my clients to identify root causes of concerns and related treatment goals, and I take the lead in organizing sessions based on your top priorities. I genuinely love providing therapy, and I believe it to be a great privilege to share in my clients’ mental health journeys.
As an undergrad, I studied psychology at Tulane University and then went on to receive my Masters and Doctorate in clinical psychology from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium. I have trained in various clinical settings, including the San Diego VA Medical Center and the Stanford School of Medicine. I use various evidence-based therapy treatments in my work with clients, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching football, dabbling in photography, and getting out in nature.
