Kaety Kohlhorst
Hello! I’m Kaety, a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology and a student therapist under the guidance of Dr. Caroline Dickens (PSY33758). My passion lies in supporting individuals as they navigate life's complexities, with a particular focus on helping women manage anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
During seasons of change, it's easy to slip through the cracks and feel alone, isolated, or unsure of yourself, as if there's no way out. I will meet you where you are and walk alongside you as we untangle these complexities together, building insight and practical tools to help you find steadier ground. Whether you’re navigating caregiver roles, shifting relationships, academic or career stress, family expectations, body image concerns, or the emotional adjustments of the perinatal journey, you don’t have to do it alone.
My goal is to provide a warm, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. In our work together, I take a relational, strengths-based approach. I believe our thoughts, emotions, and coping patterns make sense in the context of our life experiences. Rather than trying to “fix” who you are, we’ll work to build new ways of relating to yourself with greater clarity, flexibility, and self-compassion.
After completing my undergraduate degree at Kansas State University, I began my PhD at Palo Alto University, where I train at the Clinics @ PAU and the Department of Psychiatry at the Palo Alto VA. Alongside this work, I am grateful to be part of Palmetto Psychology Clinic, where I receive specialized training in supporting women navigating perinatal and life-stage transitions, ensuring identities and lived experiences are thoughtfully considered at every step.
Outside the therapy room, I embrace my love for animals as a devoted mother to a spirited corgi-pug mix, and a grumpy gray cat who keeps him in line. I also enjoy reading, self-care, spending time with friends and family, exploring new recipes as a foodie and baker, indulging my crafty side, and taking advantage of the Bay Area’s great outdoors!
