Khyati Talwar
Hi! I am Khyati, a doctoral student in Clinical Health Psychology at Palo Alto University, currently practicing under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Dickens (PSY33758) at Palmetto. My passion lies in supporting women to find a balance between taking care of themselves and the people they value. I love working with women navigating pregnancy and postpartum to ease some of their load, and supporting women with parenting, depression, anxiety, and pretty much any other mental health concerns in the purview of my knowledge, because of my love of working with women and the inspiration that I draw from them.
In my work with you, I will use a strengths-based approach, helping you unpack the tools and capacity within you to cope with your problems. As women juggle multiple roles and expectations, they often forget their inner strength, and much of my work with you will involve uncovering it. Additionally, together we’ll discover what works best for you and tailor techniques and interventions that seem doable and comfortable.
As a therapist, I significantly value feedback and want to know what works best for you. I appreciate when clients own the space, however they like, because I strongly believe it is their space and time. Our therapeutic relationship will be built on honesty, consistent check-ins about the process and motivation, and always trying to find a path that feels unpressured.
I am currently a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University, specializing in health psychology. I am also currently completing my training at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, where I work with children and adolescents. Moreover, I have previously worked at Kaiser Permanente in Vacaville with adults, where I got an opportunity to work with women navigating life transitions. I feel very fortunate for opportunity to work at Palmetto and help women rediscover their strength.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, strolling on the beach (a big and long stroll!), and finding the best food spots in the Bay Area! Mindfulness meditation and positive self-talk also help me stay grounded so I can present my best self to you in sessions.
