Palmetto Psychology Clinic

What therapy at Palmetto costs

We publish our fees for the same reason we publish our clinicians' faces: you're making a real decision about your family's money and your own care, and you should be able to make it without a sales call.

Below is what everything costs, why the numbers have a range, and the lower-fee options we offer. If cost is the thing standing between you and starting, book a free consultation call — even if it's not with us, we want to help you find the right fit.

What each service costs

Fees vary by clinician and session length. You'll know your exact fee during the free consultation, in writing, before anything is scheduled.

Individual therapy

$295 – $400

per session

45 or 60 minutes · weekly to start

One-on-one therapy with a licensed psychologist. Most people begin weekly and move to every other week as things stabilize. Your exact fee depends on which clinician you work with and whether you choose 45- or 60-minute sessions — you’ll know the number before your first appointment, never after.

Couples & family therapy

$400 – $500

per session

60 minutes

For partners trying to find each other again after a birth, a loss, or a pregnancy that took over everything. Also for families navigating a new sibling, a NICU stay, or grandparents who are helping in ways that aren’t helping. Both partners attend; sometimes we’ll meet with one of you individually along the way.

Group therapy

$50 – $150

per session

Led by our psychologists and doctoral trainees, not peer-facilitated

Small online groups built around a shared experience. Groups are the most affordable way to work with a Palmetto psychologist, and for a lot of people they’re not a step down from individual therapy — they’re the thing that finally helps.

Student therapists, supervised by our founders

A different kind of care with real advantages — two clinical minds on your case instead of one. Full details below.

Support groups cost less than therapy groups, and the length of each session moves the number too.

Three things move the number

Why there's a range

Who you work with.

Our founding psychologists — who built the practice — are at the top of the range. Our associate psychologists are fully licensed doctoral-level clinicians with the same specialized training, at a lower fee.

How long your sessions are.

We offer 45- and 60-minute sessions. Sixty minutes is often the right call early on, or for trauma work; 45 works well once you've found a rhythm. You can change your mind.

What kind of therapy it is.

Couples and family sessions involve more people, more preparation, and more coordination between sessions, so they cost more than individual work.

Out-of-network

Using your insurance benefits

We don't bill insurance directly, but most plans reimburse part of what you pay — and you can find out what yours does before you book.

We are an out-of-network therapy practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Many of our clients receive partial reimbursement from their insurance company for therapy sessions. We provide monthly superbills to make the process simple. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

We have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits. The checker asks for your insurance details and returns an estimate in about a minute.

You can also pay with an FSA or HSA card. Check with your plan administrator if you are not sure whether therapy is a covered expense under yours.

Your details go to Mentaya, not to us — we never see them, and nothing you enter creates a record here.

Therapy with our student therapists

Our student therapists are advanced doctoral trainees in clinical psychology, and they see clients at Palmetto at a substantially lower fee.

Their cases are supervised by one of our specialized licensed psychologists.

When you work with one of our student therapists, it means two clinicians are thinking about your care instead of one.

  • Meghan Brown supervised by Dr. Julia Birt (PSY33684)
  • Kaety Kohlhorst supervised by Dr. Caroline Dickens (PSY33758)
  • Ariana Esfahani supervised by Dr. Meghan Goulet (PSY33727)
  • Ayala Tzadikario supervised by Dr. Megan Turner-Cabrera (PSY29534)

They are advanced doctoral trainees.

Each is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology, currently in graduate training, and each chose perinatal mental health on purpose.

Cancellation policy

24 hours' notice. A session cancelled with less notice than that is billed at the full session fee.
